Navicular Starts Earlier Than Visually Apparent

More evidence that navicular apparatus issues start earlier than what was previously thought— before lameness is visually evident— and how improper trimming— allowing a long toe, under-run heels and breaks in the alignment of the pattern bones— are major causes of it. Evidence shows that the coffin bone itself starts to elongate in response to this very common type of hoof imbalance. However, if these imbalances are corrected soon enough, most horses can be helped in varying degrees.
